Obituary of David C. VanZile

Passed away Feb. 19, 2020. Survived by his wife Denise; children, Danielle (Jake) Sasso, Dane VanZile, Dawn VanZile; grandchildren, Dylan and Hailey Sasso, Levi Ruffo; siblings, Jayne VanZile, Chris (Rich) VanZile-Stabins, Kate (Tom) VanZile-Bayer and several nieces and nephews.

Dave was born in January 1960 to Martha and Cameron VanZile. He attended Pittsford Sutherland High School and was in the graduating class of 1978.  He met his beautiful wife Denise soon after and they were married in 1980, this year would have been their 40th wedding anniversary. Dave spent most of his life working as a contractor. His most proud accomplishment was the beautiful home that he built for his family in Fishers.

From a young age, he enjoyed spending time on Honeoye Lake. He was an amazing water skier and could even “barefoot” waterski. He taught all three of his children and many others to ski as well.  Boating was a passion of his and there was no where he would rather be than out on the water. He even owned an ice boat that he enjoyed during the winter months. As much as he loved boating and skiing on Honeoye, his favorite place on earth was at Sandy Ponds.  His parents took him there as a teen and he went as often as possible every year after.

Dave also enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycling and an occasional game of golf with his father.  He loved to build model rockets with his kids and spend the day setting them off. He was youthful, fun, generous and loyal. His love for his children was unwavering.  He had a sweet tooth like no other, and made the best fudge.

Around the age of 51 David was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's Disease.  Dave’s wife Denise took loving care of him, as did his children and even helpful neighbors.

He was fortunate enough to be cared for in his home until the last 5 months of his life. From then on he was a resident at the Highlands of Brighton with their wonderful staff.
