Joyce DeWitt posted a condolence

Sadly, I note that Dr. Piper has passed but I am pleased that he & his warm & lovely Blanche started a quality family. He was my first dentist, moving to Farmington around 1970. Blanche & I attended a college course together. My husband & I were at their home at a Christian gathering once. Upon Dr. Piper's retirement, his daughter Jan, now her son Nathan, has helped with my dental health. I feel a general positive comfortable feeling relating to the whole family, 'tho not meeting so many. Surely I wish the family peace & comfort from the satisfaction of being in the embrace of such unique origins. Most sincerely, with prayers, Joyce DeWitt

Dear Jan,
We are so sorry to read of your father’s death. Our memories of him are wonderful!
My (Irene) first memory of him was being dragged to see him by my husband John. My dad was my dentist and he had passed away. I hadn’t gone to another dentist in over five years. I walked into his office and found the same color chairs, the same area for kids to play and the same goofy sense of humor as my Dad. I loved your Dad immediately.
I had asked your Dad if he had kids..obviously the answer was yes. I urged him to think about my case of not wanting to go to another dentist once my Dad died. He assured me there was no problem because his daughter (you) was in dental school! As the years went by, you graduated...we ended up going to you and found you as wonderful...or better... than your Dad!
I think we’ve heard that you are semi retired with your son taking on the practice! That is wonderful!
Your Dad was a great man...again, we are sorry for your loss.

Dear Jan, Bob and I were so surprised to read about your dad in the paper. I know Nathan told us about the celebration you all had for Dr. Piper recently. Bob and Glenn were friends for many long years because Bob was one of his first patients. He always asked about him when we were in the office. He and your mother left an unusual heritage. What an outstanding gift he has given to all of us. Please know that we are thinking about you all during this time of change and memory. We now see Nathan in the office and miss you, but we're glad the tradition of dentistry continues. I'm glad that you have little grandchildren to enjoy now too. We both want to express our sincere wishes to your family. I'm sure the faith that your mom and dad instilled in you all will help as you face this period of sadness together. With much love, Beverly and Bob Stokes
