I will cherish my memories of Jim, and benefit from his counsel through the rest of my days. He was a proud man. Proud of his sons and grandchildren, selecting just the right time to insert the most recent accomplishment into the conversation. He was proud of his company and the hundreds of children, families and employees they helped. Jim had supreme confidence in his ERA crew. He knew everyone was talented and committed to the mission of helping others, whatever the need. He was real and didn’t judge. He was in service to everyone, and when he felt less than successful, it hurt. For me, Jim and I could “ go into the box” and discuss anything. He bolstered my courage and helped me help others Jim, you are a true gentleman and will be missed every day.

I will miss him. I found ERA and was invigorated by the work. Jim had a unique approach to running social programs. He did away with he red tape and needed his sub-contractors to solve problems. Sometime this role raised concerns but Jim would smooth over conflict with a few words.
The ERA model is unique. It can be a hit squad to solve problem or the black swan we needed to get things done. But we always knew something positive would happen when ERA got involved.
His quiet demeanor carried gravitas and good ideas.
Jim was a caseworker at heart he cared about what a kid or family was experiencing and in the 20 years I knew him he never told me I was going too far or that the school would object. Being a caseworker at heart may have informed the business confusuin at the end. I say let the clerks figure it out and hopfully some likeminded person will take over the business. Jim would like thta.
