Ann Bennett

Obituary of Ann S. Bennett

Ann Hathaway Sunderlin Bennett was born on January 28, 1931 and passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on January 25, 2020 at the age of 88.

Ann was the only child of Ellen Josephine Sunderlin. She grew up in Farmington, NY on the farm at Hathaway’s Corners where she rode horses, drove farm equipment, played in the orchards and went to the District 6 one room school house on Hook Road until 8th grade.

Ann graduated from Victor Central School where she attended high school. She had many lifelong friends from her school days and they continued to have card parties and reunions every summer for many years.

She married Robert (Duke) Bennett in June, 1950 and became part of the Bennett clan of Bob and Caroline Bennett and five brothers: Richard, William, Wayne, Brian, and Stephen. They were married for 60 years until his passing in 2010. She was a devoted care giver to Duke.

They lived at Hunts Trailer Park and then moved to the “big” house at 121 West Main St. in Victor where they raised their 4 children, Tamarra, Cheryl, Marlene and Jeffrey. Her only son Jeffrey passed in 2019. Ann enjoyed cooking and always had a delicious homemade chocolate cake in the house. Sunday drives and summer trips to the Adirondacks were always great adventures for the family.

Ann and Duke moved to their cottage home at Honeoye Lake for their retirement where they always had a crowd of kids, grandkids and great grandkids for Birthday parties, Christmases and picnic get togethers. These parties included Ann playing the piano and everyone singing.

Grandma Ann is survived by nine grandchildren: Michael, Matthew, John, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Jason, Ellen, Stella and Kaitlyn and seventeen great grandchildren: Kayla, Tyler, Miranda, Haley, Kylee, Cameron, Nathan, Amanda, Sunnilyn, Alexander, Gabriella, Zachary, Blake, Madelyn, Liliana, Dakota, and Ava. Her beloved grandson Cody Bennett passed in 2011. The Bennett family and her own family meant everything to her as she grew up as an only child.

Ann loved her family, music, animals, the great outdoors and chocolate anything. She was always interested in learning new things and of new places. Ann was a kind, compassionate, loyal, loving and hardworking lady who loved to laugh and have a good time. Snoopy was her mascot as she had worked for Millbrook Bread Store and got to dress up in a Snoopy costume for promotions.

Ann and Duke travelled twice to Hawaii to visit Tamarra, to Las Vegas, St. Louis, Phoenix and spent several winters in Florida. In 2010 she travelled to Seattle to visit her grandson John and his family after Duke had passed.

Mom, Grandma Ann - we will miss you and always cherish our loving memories of you.
