Obituary of Katharine V. Bower

Katharine V. Bower

“Katie”

Victor: Katharine Virginia Bower, our spirited jewel, died unexpectedly December 19, 2019. Katie was born September 30, 1994, and proceeded to charm everyone she met. By the time she could talk Katie was quick to join any conversation, was usually first to laugh, and was always ready for new friends, mischief and adventure.

She is survived by her loving parents, Alice and Randy Bower of Victor; her dear brother, John; grandfather George Wittel of Seattle, WA, aunts and uncles, Todd and Beth Bullard of Charlottesville, Va., Katharine and Marty Becker of Jupiter, Fla., and Charleston, W.V., Janice Pieterse of Pittsford, N.Y.,  Kerry and Maria Bower of Phelps, NY, Robin and Charlie Sabatka of Suwanee, Ga., Susan Dellavilla Bower of Punta Gorda FL. and David Pieterse of Fairport, N.Y.; cousins James, Todd, Will, Ella, Ben, Clara, Nathaniel, Michael, Shana, Lamont, Kiara, Selena, John, Sara, Mark and Glenn; hundreds of friends, and her recently rescued kitten, Prince. Katie was predeceased by her grandparents, Todd H. and Ella J Bullard of Charlottesville and Mary Wittet of Canandaigua, uncles Paul Bower of North Port FL, Steven Bower of Punta Gorda, FL and her adored pets, Cassie and Meow Meow.

A graduate of Victor High School, Katie attended Nazareth College, Finger Lakes Community College and Monroe Community College and had recently embarked on a promising career in sales. Katie’s striking hazel eyes and affinity for Hollywood-inspired fashion belied a childlike sentimentality.  She read and re-read the magical Harry Potter series and still on occasion held the knotted threads of her baby “blankie.” She personified the idea of carpe diem. Katie loved everything from underwater tea parties in the swimming pool to badly made horror movies. Over the years in family gatherings, Katie led the games for a gang of fun-loving cousins, was the first to volunteer to create artful table settings, and regaled a household with boundless renditions of “Heart and Soul” on the piano. Her smile lighted our hearts.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Katie’s life on MONDAY (12/23/19) at 11:00 AM in the All Seasons Chapel located in White Haven Memorial Park (210 Marsh Rd. – Pittsford NY 14534).
