Obituary of Edward Roy Scammell

Edward Roy “Butch” Scammell passed away on August 25th, 2019 while surrounded by everyone.

He is survived by his beloved wife of over 30 years, Dianne; his children Carol Ann (Bobby Seiwell), Lisa Marie and his grandchildren, JJ and Jules who he treated as his own children; parents, Rosemary and Norman Jock; siblings: Roseanne and Robert Baker; sisters-in-law: Debbie (Bruce) and Donna (Mark) and father -in-law, Ken (Judy) Chappelle, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his grandma-mom Verna and his siblings Raymond, Cecilia, and Cherie.

Ed, or more lovingly called “Butch” worked for 40 years for the business now known as Berry Plastics Corporation in Macedon, NY. Although he worked consistent 12 hour days for all of those years, with perfect attendance, he was first and foremost a devoted husband and father, and eventually grandfather. He always made abundant time for his family and was in 100% “Dad Mode” whenever his children were around. He brought laughter to the family with his sense of humor, amusing use of accents, pranks and dad jokes. Butch was known for spur of the moment adventures; from big adventures like heading to PA or Ohio for lunch, loading up the van and taking off for the weekend with his family, or evening trips like going to dinner or a movie or to see a comedy show. He placed importance in spoiling his family with activities, adventures, dinners and trips to amusement parks. Butch was a great cook, taking pride in the tradition of making and carving the Thanksgiving Turkey, grilling on a nice day or making apple pies -a tradition now passed on to his grandson, JJ. Butch was a golfer and a car enthusiast. Although he bought and sold many cars over the years, he dreamt of owning a Lipstick Red Monte Carlo.

He will be deeply missed by those who knew him. He always made a point to help anyone who needed, whether they asked for it or not. Butch would gift anything he could to make the lives of others happier. If anyone needed him, he was there in a heartbeat.

His family wishes to invite all friends, family and coworkers to join them in his honor, for Calling Hours from 3-5:00pm on SATURDAY, August 31st followed by a Service of remembrance at 5:00pm, all held at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services of Victor, Inc.

Immediately following the service, the family invites family and friends to celebrate Butch's life at Longshots Restaurant at The Finger Lakes Hotel (6108 Loomis Road, Farmington, New York 14425).
