Obituary of John Roger Ahearn
John Roger Ahearn ‘Johnny O’ 72, of Wayland, NY,
Born December 10, 1946, died, July 27, 2019, after a courageous battle with cancer.
John’s passion was truly his job. He started his career out at Monroe Tractor in Henrietta as a mechanic working on the Tractors, Backhoes, Loaders, and many Harvest and Planting Equipment. He enjoyed being a mechanic a great deal and worked there for several years. Then he moved his career into construction and worked on many buildings in Downtown Rochester, (one being the Lincoln Tower) and joined Local Union 832. He later started working as a part-time mechanic at Sears and Roebuck in Victor. He was later offered a full-time Mechanic Position and left the union to pursue a career at Sears. In his career at Sears he also was the key person to deliver appliances, furniture, ect to customers houses. He was a people person for sure and would always go above and beyond to meet their needs. He later worked for Becker’s Motors of Canandaigua then Daniels Automotive Group of Geneva as a mechanic. Retired and then worked part-time at Walmart in Geneseo.
John was predeceased by his parents, John K. and Florence M. Ahearn; sister, Ann M. Gifford. Survived by his brother Patrick J. (Kathy) Ahearn; Children, Gregory A (Kim) and Laurel E. (Mark) Ahearn; Grandchildren, Uncle, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins as well as special friends, Lenore Dress, Jonie and Ernie Brown and Joseph DeRuyter.
Friends and family are invited to call between the hours of 2-4PM and 5-8Pm on THURSDAY, August 1 at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services of Victor, Inc (301 West Main St, Victor). Funeral Service to be held at 10AM on FRIDAY, August 2 at St. Patrick’s Church (115 Maple Ave) followed by a graveside service at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
