Obituary of Mary B. Cirillo

Cirillo, Mary Bernadette Gill Victor: Died April 7, 2011 peacefully after a very long life. Mary was born in Flushing, NY into a large Irish Catholic family. She started her career in New York City selling radio time for a local New York station. Later she moved on to modeling and was affiliated with the prestigious John Robert Powers Modeling Agency in NYC. In addition, she was involved in real estate sales in Islip, N.Y. She subsequently married her husband Peter Cirillo and raised her daughter Colette. When the family moved from New York to Victor in the 1970s, Mary became the manager of a uniform shop at Eastview Mall. She was a very strong person with a very deep faith, which sustained her throughout her life. If she saw someone in need, she would try to help them in whatever way she could. She sacrificed to help others, as evidenced by her life-long commitment to caring for her younger handicapped sister (now deceased). She was a wonderful, loving mother, providing honest and wise counsel not only to her daughter, but to the many people who came to respect her and sought her advice. She is survived by her daughter, Colette Cirillo; sister-in-law, Phyllis Houck; niece, Teresa Jewett; nephew, Bill Houck; sisters-in-law, Jo Thomas, Terry Deir, Pat Erwin and Rita Perna; many other nieces and nephews. No one who met her ever forgot her. She was loved, respected and will be missed. Friends may call Sunday afternoon 2-4 at Lucey-VanVoorhis Funeral Home, 301 West Main Street, Victor. Mary's funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Patrick's Church, 115 Maple Avenue, Victor. Interment, St. Patrick's Cemetery.
