Obituary of David E. O'Connor
David O'Connor, 93, born 9/4/23, died 1/23/17 in Thompson Hospital, after recovering from a fall and broken hip and during rehab at The Ontario Center. Dave's father was Clyde O'Connor and mother was Mary Evelyn Keefe. His mother died the day after his birth. He was raised in Victor by his mother's mother, Julia Barry Keefe and Grandfather Pierce Keefe and their daughter Ruth.
Dave attended Victor Schools, then Rochester Business Institute, but was drafted into the Air Force in 1943. He served in Halesworth, England, from March through Dec.1944, then Wichita, Kansas. August 1945 he was heading to Okinawa, but the War ended and was re-routed to Guam from Sept.1945-Feb.1946. Honorably Discharged March 1946, Dave went back to Victor.
He returned and graduated from RBI and worked for Getinge Castle Inc. 1952-1983, for the Daily Messenger 1983-1996 and then for Eastview Mall operating the Carousel.
Dave never married, went to daily Mass at St. Patrick's Church Victor and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Dave is survived by his cousin Richard and Kathleen Barry, and their son John, his cousin Joe Barry's widow Eileen and her daughters Caroline, Cristin and Colleen. He has a half-sister Mary Ann O'Connor DeClerk.
There are no calling hours. Funeral Service will be Monday, January 30, 10:30am at St. Patrick's Church, Maple Ave., Victor with interment in the Spring at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Victor.
