Jaclyn - i'm sorry to be writing this on the death of your father. I'm so sorry ultimately he lost his battle with cancer but he gave it his all and never lost fight.
It's odd as i know so much about you. Your Dad never stoped talking about you and he was always wanting to tell me about you and the road trips - he was one super proud Dad and loved the deep connection he had with you.
I will remember always the conversations we had around football, which as a Brit is close to my heart. Clearly the only fault with Tom was his team choice of Chelsea but there you go! One of my stand out memories was in the summer of 2014 when Tom joined a group of us for the KAPTs cup at Turningstone, playing golf but critically it was during the World Cup. The night spent looking at the US versus Portugal game when Tom, leading the cheers, a whole whole sports bar changed from a quiet uninterested group of folks (who cares about soccer in the US?) to a cauldron of passion. Tom was all over that.
Clearly while i can no longer shoot the breeze with him live during games he will always be there when i see a Chelsea game but he will simply always be there for you. So glad he was part of my life.

I roomed with Tom at our annual Drexel Alum's Al's shore house and our recent Eagles road trip to Nashville. Tom and I shared some great late night conversations about family, friends and life. We were hoping to connect with Tom this fall at the Eagles/Buffalo game. I'm sure Tom will be dearly missed by many. My thoughts and prayers are with Tom, his daughter and family.

Tom had an intensity and a life force apparent to all. He also had a decency and an open social nature which invited conversation and interaction. He was the kind of guy you could talk to in a bar, laugh with, learn from, and who cared about the small stories and anecdotes from your life. But he had a sharp mind, and you had to keep up. That is what I will miss the most.

My friendship with Tom goes back 33 years.
The Beautiful Game (soccer) brought us together, as players on the one and only Rebel Cork team out of Newcastle, DE. By the way, without a few of us imports, them local boys would have been hopeless ;) We all thrived on the competition, practices, camaraderie and the brews, and it became the closest-knit team on which I ever played. Tom and I also had work interactions at Dupont, and family interactions as well. Tom's brother Dave and I managed to cross paths a few times along the way. And not so long ago my family had the pleasure of hosting Tom and Jaci at our home in Cali, so my daughters finally got to know the most important person in Tom's life.
For Tom and I, soccer was our starting point, but we also followed all kinds of sports all year, every year. Interspersed with the sports, our communications over the last decade covered a whole range of diverse topics. For a couple of guys who generally kept things to themselves, we somehow reached a level of trust that opened up deeply personal and surprising topics. Note that I am not giving any examples - except, of course, we did talk about a lot about health details.
Years ago, I lost a younger sister to cancer, and that experience helped me better understand and support Tom's long term battle. I have NEVER met anyone as RESILIENT and TOUGH as Tom. Multiple cancers, complex treatments, many surgical procedures, a myriad of side effects and there was just no quit from him. In the last couple of years, he absolutely refused to yield, and was a truly remarkable advocate for his own care. His medical team became vested in him, aggressively seeking solutions that allowed him to stretch his time with us as long as it did.
When I heard the final word from Jaci, i was heartbroken.
Life is Short.
Rest in Peace And Love, my brother Tom. I miss you.
