Obituary of Shirley A. Mead

Shirley Ann Mead of Farmington, formerly of Clifton Springs, passed away Friday, October 19, 2018 at Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua, New York, after an extended illness.

She was born June 5, 1932 in Arcadia, New York, and was the the daughter of the late Edward and Neita (Guthrie) Bomeline. Shirley was given up for adoption at age 5 and was raised in several different foster homes throughout the Clifton Springs, Manchester, and Newark areas. In 1952, she graduated valedictorian of Clifton Springs High School. For several years she was employed as a secretary at Papec Machine Company in Shortsville, New York.

Shirley married Pvt. Floyd Wright of Cheshire, New York in 1955, and helped operate their large thoroughbred race horse farm. She was a devoted mother to her three sons. She was well-known by many at Finger Lakes Race Track and later became a mutual clerk. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Clifton Springs. Shirley enjoyed reading, was a great cook, loved ice cream, adored animals especially owls and Pomeranians, and collected dolls.

In 2004, Shirley married Richard W. Mead in Canandaigua, New York. They enjoyed taking many small trips across the country together.

Shirley is survived by three sons, James (Kathryn) of Brookville, Florida, William (Linda) of Silver Creek, NY and Steven (Lori) of Clifton Springs, NY; one grandson, Matthew; five granddaughters, Renee, Ashley, Jessica, Brittany and Emily; five great grandchildren, Sara, Christopher, Caleb, Siara and Jerzi; one brother,Thomas (Mary) Bomeline of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her husbands, Floyd Wright and Richard W. Mead; and two sisters Verona and Alvira Bomeline.

A private graveside service will be held in Boughton Hill Cemetery in Victor.
